       Grading with RYKANDO KWAN MOO SA

  TANG SOO DO - GRADING 9th TO 8th GUP

Promotional Requirements for 9th to 8th Gup: (Ku Gup to Pahl Gup)

(for Yellow Belt)

Candidates' Basic Requirements.

To qualify for grading, candidates must have attended class at an officially recognised NTSDO class for a period of not less than twenty one-hour sessions or 8 weeks prior to their last grading.

A.         GENERAL KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

Why he/she is practising basic techniques in one way rather than another.

The answers to such simple questions as "What is the name of your instructor?", "What is the Korean word for the training hall?", "What is the Korean word for a senior student, or “The Korean word for uniform?" The Korean terminology used to describe the techniques performed for the examination in question and Korean terminology of Tang Soo Do studied to date.

B.         DEMONSTRATION OF ABILITY

       BASIC TECHNIQUES (Gi Cho)

         Hand techniques (Soo Gi)

     Inside to outside middle block, Side punch

         Foot techniques (Jok Gi)

     Front snap kick

         Stances (Ja Seh)

     Horse stance, Back stance

FORMS (Hyung)

Kee Cho Hyung Ee Bu, Kee Cho Hyung Sam Bu

THREE-STEP SPARRING ( Sam Soo Sik Deh Ryun)  

C.         BREAKING TECHNIQUE (Kyuk Pa)

Candidate must be able to demonstrate a skilful and correct front snap kick against a breakable board. In addition to the above requirement, the examiner may ask Candidates to perform techniques from previous grading examination.

            Additional Terminology you should learn other than Basic Commands etc.

Stances     Hu Kul Cha Seh (Back stance)               Kee Mah Cha Seh (Horse stance)    

Blocks      Ahneso Pakuro Mah Kee (Inside to outside block)          

Attacks      Hwang Jin Kong Kyuk (Side punch)

Kicks         Aup Poda Cha Gi (Front snap Kick)
