     Grading with RYKANDO KWAN MOO SA

TANG SOO DO - GRADING 4th TO 3rd GUP

Promotional Requirements for 4th to 3rd Gup: (Sah Gup to Sam Gup)

(for Green Belt with Blue Tag)

Candidates' Basic Requirements.

To qualify for grading, candidates must have attended class at an officially recognised NTSDO class for a period of not less than forty one-hour sessions or 16 weeks prior to their last grading.

A.         GENERAL KNOWLEDGE REQUIREMENTS

      The candidate must know and understand:

a.      The six basic principles of Tang Soo Do practice, being: As before for green belt.

b.      The reasons why balance, speed, power, mental application and proper concentration are important in executing techniques.

c.      The requirements for this grade also include a satisfactory performance in a written examination that covers Korean terminology of Tang Soo Do studied to date.

B.         DEMONSTRATION OF ABILITY

            BASIC TECHNIQUES (Gi Cho)

           Hand techniques (Soo Gi)

          Two fist low X-block, Knife hand high block, Defence & attack combinations using the hands         

             Foot techniques (Jok Gi)

             Knee front kick, Back snap kick, Jump front kick

FORMS (Hyung)

     Pyung Ahn Sam Dan, Pyung Sah Dan

ONE-STEP SPARRING (lL Soo Sik Deh Ryun)

and FREE FIGHTING (Ja Yu Deh Ryun)

SELF DEFENCE (Ho Sin Sul)

C.         BREAKING TECHNIQUE (Kyuk Pa)

Candidate must be able to demonstrate a skilful and correct back snap kick, or jump front kick against a board. In addition to the above requirement, the examiner may ask candidates to perform techniques from any previous grading examination.

            Additional Terminology you should learn other than Basic Commands etc.
